Appearance
The design used in the series has a helm with curled horns, one of which has broken off, horrific lights as pupils peering out of his empty eyesockets, and pale undead skin pulled tight against his noseless skull. His skin is frayed away from his lips revealing a wicked and perpetual grin. His arms are bare bones with various decayed tissues, and his skeletal hands burn with an eldritch fire when he casts fire spells. The Lich is also remarkably large. In the flashback in "His Hero," the Lich was shown to be almost as large as Billy.
Abilities
Aside from his immortality, the Lich has a medley of unholy powers, most prominently the flames he generates around his hands that he fires at his opponents. Early on in "Mortal Folly," it was revealed that the Lich has the power to control people's minds, either through telepathy or spoken commands. Moreover, he has the ability to possess other people, as seen in "Mortal Recoil" when he survived by possessing Princess Bubblegum. He also has the ability to fly, and can kill or destroy virtually anything he comes into contact with. When he tried to cross Iceberg Lake, he inadvertently killed all the fish in the lake, and when he fought Finn, he caught Billy's gauntlet bare handed and turned it to dust. He is also able to implement necromancy, as seen when Finn and Jake entered his lair.
The Lich sustains his massive strength by drinking from his Well of Power, a deadly mixture of various lethal substances, such as bleach, lighter fluid, ammonia, and even plutonium.
Personality
The Lich is rather taciturn and speaks only in brief statements. Due to his great reticence, his few words carry greater gravity. In spite of his intractability, he is visibly shocked when Finn survives his fire attack, and he laughs heartily when Finn attacks him with his sweater. He has only raised his voice once, when Finn asked the possessed Princess Bubblegum if everything was all right. He also has an apparent disdain for all living things, as Princess Bubblegum said that his only desire was to destroy life.

It was nighttime and the Lich was standing near the spooky forest-glaring across the grassy plains that separated him from the tree fort and kingdoms off in the distance, the closest being the candy kingdom. The Lich held out one hand, a green glow surrounding it. The glow swirled down to the ground and penetrated the soil, traveling through it. It only took moments before spots in the ground around him began to move. Breaking through the ground next to him was a hand, it clutched the grass and a body began to drag itself from the dirt. As the Lich went upon his buisniss within his dark and rather cold lair, he saw a small flickering flame off in his distance.
He became rather displeased with the random flame, and therefore headed closer to it before he realized it was a creature, a fire animal. Although, he noticed a larger life specimin not too far behind it...two living creatures within his domain without his permission annoyed him.
The Lich gave a fierce grumble before a trail of fire bursts from behind him, the green tinted flames spreading out within seconds at his mere control.
No words were needed for now, only the cold hard stare of his grim hollow eyes to pierce the soul of the firey intruder that stood before him.
